In 1981 while studying at the International Puppetry Institute in France, Gary was exposed to many different theatrical techniques and styles. He adapts these to his varied work, from the political anarchy of 'Puns en Doedie' (Puppets Against Apartheid) in the 1980's to the poetic shadows in 'Looking for a Monster' in 2002.

Today the puppeteer's journey continues... taking him into new terrain, as he continues giving life to the puppet characters that inhabit his world.
